PROJECT DESCRIPTION
A total of 61 new apartment units will be added to the existing Alliance Apartments building in Minneapolis' Elliot Park neighborhood. The new 4 story building has a link that connects it with the existing building and forms a private courtyard for residents' use. As part of the site redevelopment, a large, historic brick duplex will be moved to the edge of the property and completely rehabilitated. This building, along with the individual front entries of some new first floor apartments, will strengthen the pedestrian-oriented, traditional residential character of the neighborhood. Green features of the project include: Reuse of existing building, salvage of existing materials, SIP walls on the new construction, thermal mass foundation walls and energy efficient mechanical systems and controls. The development team will seek LEED for Homes certification.
