ALLIANCE APARTMENTS RESEARCH
2010 Green by Design Conference
Conference presentation to share the research conducted to evaluate a broad range of building technology for use in the Alliance Apartments Expansion, the first LEED for Homes Mid-rise Platinum certified project in the upper Midwest. The team made a comprehensive review of building and mechanical system options starting early in the design phase with the goal of ensuring a high level of sustainability. Among the systems selected were structural insulated panels, concrete sandwich walls, a super-efficient variable refrigerant flow heating and cooling system and low-flow plumbing fixtures. An existing building on the site was also salvaged and relocated within the site for reuse.
