PROJECT: J. Jerome Boxleitner Place

LOCATION
Minneapolis, MN

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Jerome J. Boxleitner Center provides a variety of housing types designed to accommodate the complex needs of the homeless. Starting with an emergency shelter on the first floor, resident amenities increase as one moves up through the building. Residents gradually transition from the shelter to "pay-for-stay" bunks, single-room occupancy (SRO) apartments, and, ultimately, efficiency apartments on the upper floors. The building also houses an array of support spaces, including kitchen, bathing and laundry facilities, medical exam rooms, and counseling offices. Heavily landscaped outdoor spaces provide safe, sheltered areas for congregation that are away from the street
