PROJECT: Fresh Grounds Coffee Shop

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Fresh Grounds Coffee Shop is the public face of a program that is working to curb homelessness in young adults exiting the foster care system. Directly connected to Seventh Landing, a supportive housing facility, these at-risk youth have a safe place to live as well as a place to develop their employment skills.
Seventh Landing residents were actively involved in getting the shop up and running. Their work included presenting the idea to the community, attending city council meetings, and helping to finish off the construction of the space.
In 2007, Fresh Grounds undertook a remodel to accommodate a larger menu including Starbucks coffee and lunch fare prepared in partnership with its sister program Kitchen of Opportunities.
