PROJECT: Portland Village Daycare LOCATION Minneapolis, Minnesota PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project includes the renovation of an existing building to house on-site day care and office space for support staff, serving three new apartment buildings. The dark, outdated interior was opened up, and cheerful colors introduced to more appropriately match its primary use as children's space. Thoughful touches, including low cabinets and playful interior windows located at child' height were added in selected areas of the day care area. The design team also camouflaged the many existing low pipes and mechanical ductwork in the building by creatively incorporating multiple ceiling heights and materials into a playful design.
