St Paul, Minnesota
This 44-unit apartment building, situated immediately adjacent to the new Central Corridor light rail line and currently in design development, will offer a home for young adults who are aging out of foster care or formerly homeless. Support services will be provided on site to assist residents with issues from employment to education. The building will also include common areas to build a sense of community within the building and connect residents to this increasingly vibrant urban neighborhood, with spaces such as a community room opening onto the patio and garden, a large light-filled fitness room, and on-site staff and meeting spaces. The building design seeks to reflect the youthful energy of its residents with a fresh contemporary façade, while respecting the history and context of the urban street with compatible materials and massing.
